Renowned Bollywood actor and former Member of Parliament, Govinda, is reportedly in talks to align himself with the faction led by Eknath Shinde within the Shiv Sena party.
Insiders suggest that Govinda is being considered as a potential candidate to contest from the Mumbai North West constituency, pitted against Amol Kirtikar of Shiv Sena-UBT, who happens to be the son of the incumbent MP from the Shinde camp, Gajanan Kirtikar.
Speculations are rife about Govinda's imminent entry into the Shiv Sena fold, with his formal induction expected to be officiated in the presence of Eknath Shinde himself.
When approached for comments, a spokesperson from the Shinde faction refrained from making any official statement on the matter.
Sources indicate that Govinda's nomination might be on the cards, particularly considering the advancing age of the current MP, Gajanan Kirtikar.
Notably, Govinda had previously contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 under the Congress banner from North Mumbai, securing victory over the seasoned BJP leader, Ram Naik.
