BJP's fresh face in the political arena, K Madhavi Latha at 49, remains undaunted by the towering presence of Hyderabad's sitting MP and AIMIM leader, Asaduddin Owaisi, asserting that his influence has only brought pain, fear, and injustice to the constituency.
An accomplished classical dancer and entrepreneur, Latha is poised to challenge Owaisi's dominance in his stronghold during the upcoming General Elections on May 13.
In a candid interview with PTI, she criticized the AIMIM chief for the perceived lack of progress in the constituency despite his prolonged tenure since 2004.
Unfazed by Owaisi's larger-than-life persona, she rebutted the notion, questioning the nature of his image. "An inflated image holds no weight when it's built on negativity. It takes merely a small disruption to dismantle it," she remarked, drawing an analogy to a cascade of playing cards.
Latha reiterated her stance, alleging that Owaisi has failed to address the pressing issues of agony, backwardness, injustice, and insecurity plaguing the Hyderabad Lok Sabha segment.
Emphasizing the need to present the ground reality to the voters, she pledged to stand unwaveringly for them, regardless of the fear mongering orchestrated by her opponent.
Recalling past electoral maneuvers where Congress activists were allegedly thwarted from campaigning in the old city, she denounced Owaisi's tactics, asserting her resilience against intimidation.
Latha's electoral promises include comprehensive development initiatives encompassing infrastructure, education, healthcare, and sports facilities, alongside promoting local trades like pearl and lac bangle craftsmanship and attracting IT investments.
She expressed her determination to uplift marginalized communities, including backward Muslims and Hindus living in fear, by addressing the chronic underdevelopment in the constituency.
Lamenting the dearth of progress, she highlighted glaring issues such as unattended garbage heaps and the absence of vital amenities like IT hubs and sports complexes.
Critiquing Owaisi's stance on key national policies like the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, she accused him of prioritizing vote bank politics over genuine welfare measures.
Asserting her commitment to inclusive governance, she outlined plans to combat illiteracy, support minority educational institutions, and tackle social issues like child marriage and labor exploitation.
Disputing the notion of the constituency's religious homogeneity, she acknowledged the presence of diverse pockets and vowed to engage with all communities, including Muslims, based on mutual respect and common citizenship.
Declaring herself a patriot above all, she affirmed her belief in the unity of all Indians, transcending communal divides.
As the political landscape gears up for the impending elections, Madhavi Latha emerges as a formidable contender, poised to challenge the status quo and usher in a new era of inclusive and progressive governance for Hyderabad.
