A Delhi court has decided to extend the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader, until May 30 in connection with the liquor policy case. This decision was made by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court following the expiration of the previous period of judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the bail plea filed by Sisodia was taken up by a bench led by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court on Tuesday. The court has reserved its verdict on the matter. Sisodia is currently in custody facing charges related to corruption and money laundering.
During the hearing, the counsel for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), advocate Zoheb Hossain, informed the high court that the probe agency intends to file a supplementary charge sheet in the excise policy case, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) being included as an accused party.
Investigation brought out that Rs 45 crore, suspected to be bribes from the 'South Group', was used by AAP for campaigning during the Assembly elections in Goa in 2021-22.
The trial court had earlier rejected the bail plea moved by Sisodia, and since February, his application for bail has been pending.
