Rekha Gupta, the new Chief Minister of Delhi, has vowed to punish those guilty of corruption in the last 12 years. Speaking to the media at her Shalimar Bagh home, she said, "For the last 12 years, AAP has been in power in Delhi, and corruption issues are on their shoulders. They will have to answer for each rupee of public. Anyone who practiced corruption will have to account for each rupee."
Thanking for her new position, Gupta called it a "new motivation and a new chapter" in her existence. As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes back to power in Delhi after 27 years, Gupta, a first-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Shalimar Bagh, will head a six-member cabinet of ministers. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has made official gazette notifications announcing these appointments, which will come into effect from the time they take their oaths of office.
The ministers to join the cabinet of Gupta are Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at Ramlila Maidan, and huge crowd attendance is expected. Dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers of states are likely to be in attendance.
One day before her oath-taking ceremony, Gupta expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the top leadership of BJP for reposing faith in her. She stated, "PM Narendra Modi has placed huge faith in a simple party worker and daughter like me. I will live up to his expectations." citeturn0search2
Following the ceremony, Chief Minister Gupta and her cabinet plan to visit the Yamuna Ghat to assess the river's cleanliness, signaling the new administration's commitment to addressing pollution and environmental concerns in the capital.
Gupta entered politics as a student leader during her time at Delhi University, where she was President of the Delhi University Students' Union during 1996-1997. She has served in various roles in the BJP over the years, ranging from General Secretary of the state unit of Delhi to being a member of the party's national executive.
As she takes office, Gupta vows to be transparent, accountable, and people-friendly, with the goal of bringing a new era of governance to the National Capital Territory.
