Ahead of the Assembly elections on February 5, the Delhi Congress on Thursday said it would increase the free monthly electricity limit from 200 units to 300 units and give LPG cylinder at Rs 500, apart from a monthly free ration kit offering 6 kg rice and other essentials if it comes to power in the national capital.
Urging a change of regime in Delhi, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said here today that just like his state the Congress will deliver all the five guarantees for welfare of the poor in Delhi also.
Speaking at a joint press conference alongside AICC Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, Reddy said the Delhi Metro train implemented during Sheila Dikshit-led government has remained a benchmark for rest of the India.
"Delhi has longest Metro and this was built under the Congress only. This is only Sheila Dikshit-led initiative on implementing more CNG-operated vehicles or flyovers to the city roads," he further added.
Look at the poor state of Delhi ever since the Congress has lost power. Since then, Arvind Kejriwal has been the CM thrice and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also won three terms but the situation in the city has only gotten worse," said Reddy.
Such a frightening prospect it is of the poisonous air of Delhi for citizens but still, Kejriwal and Modiji have their focus solely on making just some hollow assurances reducing the National Capital a "failure", he added.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devender Yadav said, almost 17 lakh families will avail themselves the facility of LPG cylinder priced Rs 500 to every household month-end.
Yadav also said that free ration kits, which would contain 5 kg rice, 2 kg sugar, 1 litre cooking oil, 6 kg pulses, and 250 gm tea, would be provided to all the poor. He said that this should allow women to concentrate on getting their children educated instead of having to worry about making arrangements for ration.
"The Congress will fulfill its five guarantees, as it has done in Telangana, if it will be elected to power in Delhi," he said, promising that the very first Cabinet meeting of the new Congress government will pass the proposals for the welfare of the poor.
He also reminded voters of the Delhi Congress' guarantee to provide Rs 2,500 monthly financial support to women, Rs 8,500 per month financial internship and assistance to educated, unemployed youth, and Rs 25 lakh health insurance to all Delhiites.
Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 5 to choose a 70-member House, and results will be declared on February 8. Congress has no member in the outgoing Assembly.
