During the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, strong condemnation was voiced against the suspension of 143 MPs for the remainder of the Winter Session from Parliament. The party decried this action as a strategic move aimed at silencing opposition voices during the passage of three stringent criminal justice laws by the Narendra Modi-led Central government.
In a resolute stance, the CWC underscored the perceived assault on democracy, emphasizing the relentless attack on the freedoms guaranteed to citizens by the Constitution. The resolution denounced the suspension of MPs, highlighting their rightful demand for the Home Minister's statement regarding the unprecedented events of December 13 and the alleged involvement of a BJP MP from Mysuru in breaching security.
Expressing unwavering determination, the CWC reaffirmed its readiness to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently and as an integral part of the INDIA group. It articulated the Congress's commitment to fortify the INDIA group as a formidable counterforce against the BJP and its allies.
Acknowledging the commencement of preparations for the elections, the resolution hailed the significance of the 'Hain Taiyyar Hum' rally scheduled in Nagpur on the party's foundation day, marking a pivotal step in these preparations. It commended the Congress President's state-wise reviews guiding these efforts and welcomed initiatives to bolster the party's financial strength through public participation, urging sustained contributions from CWC members.
The resolution underscored pressing issues such as widening economic disparities, escalating prices of essential commodities, and a distressing scarcity of employment opportunities for the youth. It highlighted the disconnect between the Prime Minister's assertions and ground realities, emphasizing deliberate social polarization for electoral benefits.
The CWC rallied its members, urging unity, hope, and confidence, while calling for wholehearted dedication and disciplined engagement in the election campaign. It appealed to every member of the organization to stand united and resolute in the face of these challenges, marking a collective commitment to the principles of democracy and freedom enshrined in the Constitution.
