Congress Replaces Jaipur Candidate in 5th List; Nominates Former Rajasthan Minister

This decision comes as part of the Congress's strategic moves for the upcoming polls, particularly in the initial phase scheduled for April 19, where all 12 seats in question have now been allocated candidates.

In its latest announcement ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has introduced a change in its candidate lineup for Jaipur, nominating former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in place of Sunil Sharma. Additionally, Murarilal Meena, a Congress legislator, has been chosen to contest from the Dausa parliamentary constituency in Rajasthan.

This decision comes as part of the Congress's strategic moves for the upcoming polls, particularly in the initial phase scheduled for April 19, where all 12 seats in question have now been allocated candidates.

It's worth noting that Murarilal Meena's spouse, Savita Meena, had previously contested the Dausa seat under the Congress banner during the 2019 elections, albeit without success. This time around, the party has entrusted Murarilal Meena with the candidacy for the seat.

Meanwhile, Sunil Sharma, the erstwhile Congress nominee for the Jaipur constituency, has expressed his willingness to step aside following controversy surrounding his association with the 'Jaipur Dialogues.' Sharma's directorial role within this forum, known for its alignment with right-leaning ideology, had drawn criticism from some quarters of the Congress, including Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor.
