Congress Nominees Revealed: Vikramaditya Singh to Face Kangana in Mandi; Manish Tewari Takes on Chandigarh Challenge

Among the notable entries, the Congress has nominated its incumbent legislator from the Shimla Rural constituency, Vikramaditya Singh, who bears the legacy as the offspring of the late Virbhadra Singh, a stalwart six-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Vikramaditya Singh is set to square off against BJP's Kangana Ranaut in Mandi, a constituency currently represented by his mother Pratibha Singh, who clinched victory in the bypoll of 2021.

In a significant development, the Congress party has unveiled the names of 16 candidates poised to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections following a pivotal gathering of the party’s Central Election Committee held recently.

Additionally, the party has entrusted Vinod Sultanpuri with the responsibility to contest from the Shimla (reserved) seat.

The roster further includes a duo of candidates from Himachal Pradesh, nine from Odiasha, four from Gujarat, and one nominee for the sole Lok Sabha seat in Chandigarh.

Interestingly, the Congress has nominated its incumbent MP from Punjab’s Anandpur Sahib, Manish Tewari, to vie for the Chandigarh constituency. The former Union Minister is poised to go head-to-head against Sanjay Tandon of the BJP.

The pivotal gathering of the Central Election Committee was graced by the presence of key figures including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, and AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, underscoring the strategic significance of the decisions made.
