Congress Forms Manifesto Committee for 2024 LS Polls, Naming Chidambaram as Chairman

The Congress party has taken significant steps in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, forming a 16-member Manifesto Committee with P Chidambaram, former Union Minister, appointed as its chairman. KC Venugopal, Congress General Secretary (organisation), officially announced this development, stating that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had promptly constituted the committee.

The committee, led by Chidambaram, includes T.S. Singh Deo, former Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister, as its convenor. Notable members appointed to the committee are Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and senior leaders Anand Sharma, Jairam Ramesh, Shashi Tharoor, Gaikhangam, Gaurav Gogoi, Praveen Chakravarty, Imran Pratapgarhi, K. Raju, Omkar Singh Markam, Ranjeet Ranjan, Jignesh Mevani, and Gurdeep Sappal.

The announcement of this committee aligns with the Congress's strategic planning for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. During the recent Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Venugopal had indicated that the party would soon finalize the candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The formation of the Manifesto Committee underscores the party's commitment to outlining its agenda and policies for the upcoming elections, emphasizing the significance of issues and aspirations to be addressed in their election manifesto.
