Congress Announces Revanth Reddy's Swearing-In as Telangana CM on December 7

Venugopal stated, "Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has decided to go with Revanth Reddy as the new leader of the Congress Legislative Party. The Congress will deliver a clean and able government that will provide maximum governance." He further revealed that the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for December 7.

Following its recent triumph in Telangana, the Congress has officially designated A. Revanth Reddy, the state unit president, as its chief ministerial candidate. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal made the announcement during a press conference in the national capital.

The decision was reached after a meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday, where the Congress legislative party discussed and finalized the name of the new CLP leader. Attendees included Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, state in-charge Manikrao Thakare, Deepa Das Munshi, K.J. George, and Ajoy Kumar.

Venugopal emphasized that the CLP leaders expressed gratitude to the people of Telangana for giving a massive mandate to the Congress. Additionally, they thanked Congress leadership, including Kharge, CPP chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, for their extensive campaigning in the state.

The decision to appoint Revanth Reddy as the chief ministerial candidate was entrusted to Congress President Kharge. Thakare and Shivakumar presented a report to Kharge on Tuesday afternoon, leading to the final decision.

This victory marks the first time the Congress has won in Telangana since the establishment of the state in 2014. The Congress secured success by defeating the ruling BRS led by K Chandrasekhar Rao.
