Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday launched a scathing attack on those who "under false pretences seek to mislead the nation and undermine its social fabric."
Pressing upon the need for unity in the face of challenges to the country's unity and integrity, the Chief Minister accused some politicians of disrespecting revered figures that have contributed toward social justice only to use them now for electoral gain.
He further alleged that the Congress and Samajwadi Party, despite years of governance, always gave importance to politics before the welfare of the nation.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said this while speaking as the chief guest in a function organized by the BJP Yuva Morcha in Varanasi. He asked the party workers to work with dedication and commitment in increasing the membership of the party, saying that there is no caste, class, religion, or language bigger than the nation.
The former chief minister pointed out that every worker of the BJP should be disciplined and dedicated to the organization. He called for unity, as he had done several times in the past, to thwart the threats to the unity and integrity of the country.
Criticising both the Congress and Samajwadi Party, the Chief Minister said that while these parties had been in power for years, they had always given priority to political interests over national interests. On the contrary, he said, the BJP did politics for the sake of the country.
Paying obeisance and offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Varanasi on Sunday. He also visited Sampurnanand Sanskrit University and examined some ancient manuscripts.
The district president BJP Yuva Morcha Aman Sonkar announced the launch of a nationwide membership campaign by BJP in Varanasi. A workshop was organized where future strategies of the organization and the way to achieve the goal of enrolling 180 million members were debated. The Chief Minister was assured that a sizeable number of new members would be registered this time.
