In Madhya Pradesh, at an election rally in Morena, Prime Minister Narendra Modi escalated his attack against the Congress by suggesting that the party was favoring the country's religious division. Prime Minister Modi, in front of a large crowd, made it clear that the BJP is trying to rectify the wrongs committed by what he referred to as the Congress.
PM Modi said, “Instead of opening the chains of ‘Ma Bharati’, the Congress cut its arms. The Congress accepted the country’s division on the basis of religion,”
PM Modi observed, "The Congress is unrelenting—unable to see sense."
“The Congress’ agenda is to divide the country for power. Once again, it is desperate to return to power,” the PM added.
The Morena Lok Sabha seat has always been a stronghold for the BJP, winning the last seven terms consecutively since 1996. It was earlier held by former Union Minister and ex-Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, who has been fielded by the BJP this time. He is facing Congress MP Satyapal Singh Sikarwar, an erstwhile MLA of the BJP.
