Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed confidence on Monday regarding the Mahayuti alliance's prospects for a sweeping victory in the east Vidarbha region during the upcoming elections on April 19.

Fadnavis remarked on the favorable reception observed by the BJP in the constituencies of east Vidarbha slated for the first phase of polling, particularly emphasizing the formidable candidacy of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur.

Asserting the dominance of the Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP led by Ajit Pawar, Fadnavis anticipated a comprehensive victory in the initial phase of elections.

He underscored the BJP's concerted efforts in grassroots outreach over the past several years, ensuring engagement down to the booth level.

Regarding the allocation of a Lok Sabha seat to RSP leader Mahadev Jankar, Fadnavis indicated that a decision would be made following deliberations, confirming the commitment to assign him a seat.

With Maharashtra set to elect 48 members to the Lok Sabha across five phases beginning April 19, nominations for constituencies including Nagpur, Gadchiroli-Chimur (ST), Bhandara-Gondiya, Chandrapur, and Ramtek (SC) must be filed by March 27.

Notably, four out of five seats witness a direct contest between the BJP and Congress.

In Nagpur, incumbent MP Nitin Gadkari seeks reelection against Congress nominee Vikas Thakre, while a similar scenario unfolds in Chandrapur between BJP's Sudhir Mungantiwar and Congress' Pratibha Dhanorkar.

The Bhandara-Gondiya constituency witnesses BJP's Sunil Mendhe pitted against Congress' Prashant Padole, while in Gadchiroli-Chimur (ST), BJP's Ashok Nete faces off against Congress' Namdeo Kirsan.

Furthermore, the Ramtek (SC) constituency sees Congress fielding Rashmi Barve, with the Shiv Sena likely to contest for the seat.
