CM Kejriwal Appeals to Supreme Court Over Interim Stay on Bail in Liquor Policy Case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal moved an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging an interim stay by the Delhi High Court on his release on bail in a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor policy scam.

The Delhi High Court has passed an interim direction to stay, until June 21, the release on bail of AAP leader Satyendar Jain, following an appeal by the Enforcement Directorate against the trial court's decision for bail.

A vacation bench comprising Justices Sudhir Kumar Jain and Ravinder Dudeja directed that the release on bail is stayed till comprehensive hearing in this matter. On the same day, the Delhi High Court reserved its order on the issue saying it will pass the order within two to three days.

The Enforcement Directorate had earlier petitioned for the trial court to stay, by 48 hours, the signing of the bail bond after the bail order had been issued, which the latter refused and declined to stay its order granting bail.
