Chirag Paswan was re-elected on Sunday as the national president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) for a tenure of five years, announced following the conclusion of the party's National Executive meeting in Ranchi.
The party has expressed faith in the leadership of Chirag Paswan by an X statement expressing faith in his capacities to take forward the party to newer feats and growth.
He was reelected unanimously, Paswan, the Lok Sabha member from Hajipur and Union Minister for Food Processing in Modi 3.0. The party congratulated him and extended all its best wishes for his new term.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Paswan spelt out the party's plan to spread its base outside Bihar. The National Executive meeting deliberated on a host of issues, he said, including the Assembly elections slated to be held in different states in the coming months.
On Jharkhand, he asserted that the party is more than keen to contest elections. He said that State unit and national level leaders are quite confident about winning substantial success in this tribal state.
The decision to hold the National Executive in Ranchi underlines the commitment of the party towards newer opportunities and expansion beyond Bihar. He said the state leadership will present a report on the ground situation, based on which it would be decided whether to contest elections independently or go for an alliance.
Already, the process of working on its manifesto for the Jharkhand Assembly elections has been initiated by the party, but a decision on whether to go solo or coalition will be taken later.
Recently, the Election Commission announced election dates for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. Jharkhand and Maharashtra are among other states that will go to polls by the end of the year, dates for which are yet to be announced.
The LJP, headed by Chirag Paswan, is part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the Centre. It has, however, not spelt out its stand on the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
