BJP-JD(S) Launch ‘Mysuru Chalo’ Protest Demanding Chief Minister’s Resignation

The march was flagged off by BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra and JD(S) Youth Wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who launched the event with the blowing of a bugle and the beating of drums.

The week-long protest, 'Mysuru Chalo,' by BJP and its ally JD(S) demanding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation over allegations of his involvement in an illegal site allotment scandal connected to Mysuru Urban Development Authority was launched from Bengaluru on Saturday.

The march was flagged off by BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra and JD(S) Youth Wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who launched the event with the blowing of a bugle and the beating of drums.

The seven-day agitation is scheduled to end with a big public rally in Mysuru on August 10.

Veteran BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, terming him as corrupt and saying it is in the best interest of Siddaramaiah himself to submit his resignation.

Addressing party workers here, he appealed to Siddaramaiah to resign gracefully without giving scope for more scandals against him.

Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R. Ashoka hit back at the Congress for finding fault with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's notice to Siddaramaiah, questioning their credibility in doing so. He remarked at the anxiety that seems to grip the chief minister over the notice and wondered what would happen if the Governor sanctions prosecution.

Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy attacked the Congress for its avowed commitment to the cause of upliftment of SC/ST communities, saying their complicity in MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scandals had exposed their insincerity towards Dalits.

The venue was decorated with banners, festoons, and flags of both the BJP and JD(S).
