BJP will emerge as single-largest party in 2024 LS polls says Shashi Tharoor

Tharoor emphasized that it's not crucial for the INDIA bloc to reach a complete agreement in all states, considering India's diverse political landscape.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, while addressing the Kerala Literature Festival, expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge as the single-largest party in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. However, he highlighted the possibility of reducing the current government's numbers by forming alliances.

Tharoor emphasized that it's not crucial for the INDIA bloc to reach a complete agreement in all states, considering India's diverse political landscape. He suggested that bringing down the government's numbers could dissuade potential allies from joining them.

Discussing seat-sharing within the INDIA bloc, Tharoor expressed hope for arrangements in as many states as possible to avoid unnecessary defeats. Drawing parallels with Kerala and Tamil Nadu, he noted the challenges in seat-sharing agreements between parties like CPM and Congress in Kerala, contrasting it with the collaboration of CPI, CPM, Congress, and DMK in Tamil Nadu.

Tharoor stressed the importance of voters choosing the best candidate from their constituency. He urged people to consider whether they want an effective administrator beneficial to their region rather than voting solely based on a leader like Narendra Modi. Tharoor's remarks underline the complex dynamics and strategic considerations in the political landscape leading up to the 2024 elections.
