BJP wants to confine tribal people to forests, deprive them, says Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, addressing a public meeting in Assam during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, accused the BJP of wanting to confine tribal people to forests and deny them education and opportunities. Gandhi asserted that Congress recognizes the rights of 'adivasis' over resources as the first dwellers. He criticized the BJP, which leads a coalition government in the state, alleging that it aims to restrict tribals to forests and deprive their children of educational and business opportunities.

Gandhi expressed the Congress's commitment to returning resources such as water, land, and forests to the tribal communities. He claimed that the BJP government is taking away tribal land across the country, erasing their history.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, started from Manipur on January 14 and will conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21, covering 6,713 km across 110 districts in 15 states. The Assam leg of the yatra, spanning 833 km across 17 districts, is part of the larger initiative aimed at connecting with people across the country and highlighting issues related to governance and development.
