BJP Poised to Govern 12 States Independently, Congress Presence Shrinks to 3

The political landscape has seen a notable shift with the recent election outcomes. The BJP has solidified its position, now holding sway in 12 states across the nation. Madhya Pradesh, firmly secured with an overwhelming majority of 165 seats out of 230, stands as a testament to the party's dominance.

The BJP's triumph extends to Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, where resounding mandates have bolstered its presence. Conversely, the Congress, despite clinching victory in Telangana, finds itself reigning in merely three states, alongside Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.

Eager for a consecutive term in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, the Congress faced disillusionment as the electoral tide turned against its favor, shattering its aspirations.

The BJP's stronghold expands beyond the recent elections. It commands governance independently in Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, it holds a stake in ruling coalitions in Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

This surge in BJP-led NDA governed states significantly impacts the national political landscape, constituting nearly half of the Lok Sabha seats. In contrast, only a couple of states, with a meager Lok Sabha representation, are now under parties not affiliated with either the NDA or the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) of opposition parties.

While the Congress collaborates within ruling coalitions in Bihar, alongside Grand Alliance partners RJD and JD-U, and in Jharkhand with JMM, it allies with DMK, steering power in Tamil Nadu without direct participation in the state government.

Concurrently, the AAP emerges as a noteworthy national player, governing both Delhi and Punjab, solidifying its stance as the third most influential national party.
