BJP MLA Called in by Mumbai Police for Investigation into Disha Salian's Death

The case only came to light after the death of famous Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his apartment at Bandra on June 14, 2020, and then everything became highly politicized across the country.

Mumbai Police have summoned BJP MLA Nitesh N. Rane in connection with the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, who died on June 8/9, 2020. An SIT probe into the circumstances leading to Salian's death—the 28-year-old allegedly fell from the 14th floor of the Galaxy Regent Building, Malad—called for him.

Rane, his father and former union minister Narayan Rane, and other BJP leaders have continuously claimed that Salian has been murdered. Her family, however, has rubbished these allegations as some of them reportedly expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the Mumbai Police which ruled out anything suspicious about her death.

The BJP representatives argue that the two deaths are as linked as the Salian and Rajput cases. How can somebody even forget that Salian was raped, they ask, referring to a Shiv Sena UBT leader and part of the then ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition.

While the investigation in Salian's death was left to the Mumbai Police, the Rajput case was virtually handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation as its fallout and various angles cropped up, including narcotics.

He repeated his statement on the summons that the death of Salian was a murder and added, "I will fully cooperate with the Mumbai Police. I am ready to provide whatever information I have in this case. The MVA government was trying to cover up the truth to protect Aditya Thackeray."

The Salian family has been continuously demanding that these rumors about Disha be stopped, pointing out how she has become a victim of character assassination and false narratives that have been fueled with political motives. "Let her rest in peace," they demanded.

Her parents, Satish and Vasanti Salian, sent a five-page letter to the President, Prime Minister, and Chief Minister in March 2022, calling the Ranes "liars" and asking whether they were above the law—their actions pushing the Salians to despair.
