The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of avoiding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons in connection with the Delhi excise policy case because he is aware of his alleged involvement in the "liquor policy scam." Kejriwal, in response, termed the notice as "illegal" and skipped the third summons.
Gaurav Bhatia, the BJP national spokesperson, claimed that Kejriwal is "shaking in fear" and making excuses to evade the ED because he knows his arrest is imminent. Bhatia accused Kejriwal of being the "kingpin" of the liquor scam and stated that he is trying to avoid the legal process.
Bhatia criticized Kejriwal for asking the ED to withdraw its summons, emphasizing that no one has the authority to order a probe agency to withdraw its summons. He stated that Kejriwal is not above the law and should have approached the court if he felt the ED's summons were politically motivated.
The BJP spokesperson alleged that Kejriwal has become a "corrupt termite" in politics and accused him of mastering the art of deceit and corruption. He challenged Kejriwal to appear before the ED and answer its questions if he has not engaged in any dishonesty.
Responding to AAP's claim that the BJP-led Centre is conspiring to arrest Kejriwal to hinder his campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls, Bhatia stated that the probe agencies are honestly investigating corruption cases. He emphasized the government's commitment to zero tolerance for corruption and reiterated that the agencies are working independently to take action against graft.
