Reflecting on his recent decision, Singh cited unfulfilled promises as the driving force behind his move. He claimed that despite assurances upon joining the TMC in 2022, the party failed to honor its commitment to nominate him again for the Barrackpore seat. Feeling betrayed, he announced his intent to rejoin the BJP.

In response to Singh's departure, the TMC swiftly named Partha Bhowmick, a state minister, as its candidate for the Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming elections.
