Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday of getting ready to parade all his MLAs in Delhi to cover up the Mysuru Urban Development Authority land case.
The MUDA case is in the courts, and it has to be decided within the courts. We have to see how things develop and what the High Court decides. The Chief Minister is resorting to political jugglery to save his chair.
Bommai also accused the Congress of double standards saying, "More than 3,000 acres of land is being allotted to Jindal at a lower price. Allotment of land to Jindal was even opposed within the Cabinet and publicly. We had earlier reworked our decision as it was opposed, but now the same Congress which had vehemently opposed it is supporting the same. They behave in one way when in opposition and another while in power."
He said that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has not opposed any bills with malafide intentions; it was within his authority to seek clarification against any Bill, which goes against public interest, and is empowered to withhold approval for the same. "The matter is between the Governor and the Government, and he may send these Bills to the President," added Bommai.
Meanwhile, Congress is said to be working on a 'Plan B' for Karnataka in view of the controversies concerning Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, should he have to resign due to MUDA and Tribal Welfare Board cases. Sources say that although Congress high command is reportedly backing Siddaramaiah fully, at the same time it is also searching for a suitable candidate for the post.
Karnataka Leader of the Opposition LoP R Ashoka reacted to the situation and said, "The game of musical chair for the post of Chief Minister has already begun in the Congress."
