Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic Ramanand Sagar serial, Ramayana, has stepped into the political arena by filing his nomination as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Meerut for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from the people, Govil attributed it to the widespread popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a sharp critique of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Maurya suggested a name change to "Badla candidate name," indicating the expected outcome of the elections for SP and BSP. Govil's entry into politics was marked by a grand roadshow in Meerut, where he was greeted with enthusiasm by the masses. Alongside sitting BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal and other party leaders, Govil embarked on his political journey amidst high anticipation. BJP had officially nominated Govil for the Meerut Lok Sabha seat on March 24, setting the stage for the upcoming polls scheduled for April 26.
