The BJP has taken a strategic step by forming a 15-member election management committee for West Bengal in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and attended by party President J.P. Nadda, this committee is a significant move ahead of the polls.
The committee includes key figures such as BJP's central observers for West Bengal, namely Sunil Bansal, Amit Malviya, Asha Lakra, and Mangal Pandey.
Alongside them, influential leaders like state BJP President Sukanta Majumdar, leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, former national Vice President Dilip Gosh, and former National Secretary Rahul Sinha are part of this team.
Their responsibilities encompass all election-related activities within West Bengal, from planning the campaign schedules to finalizing strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. One of their crucial tasks will be compiling an initial list of potential candidates for the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.
The state committee member emphasized that the central leadership would ultimately approve the final list of candidates based on the suggestions provided by this committee.
This move by the BJP is perceived as a means to not only streamline organizational activities and campaign strategies but also to preemptively manage any potential internal conflicts within the party, especially in certain districts. The committee is expected to play a pivotal role in orchestrating a cohesive and efficient approach to the upcoming elections in West Bengal.
