Amit Shah Asserts 'China couldn't encroach 'single inch' of land under Modi govt'

Shah highlighted the transformation in Assam's border security, noting that it was previously porous to infiltration. However, with the Modi government at the helm, in conjunction with the administration led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, infiltration has been effectively halted. He criticized the previous Congress government for failing to address issues in Assam adequately, citing incidents of violence and insurgency-related deaths.

Home Minister Amit Shah asserted during an election rally in Lakhimpur that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, China has been unable to encroach "even a single inch" of Indian territory. He emphasized how former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's response to the 1962 Chinese aggression was remembered by the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, stating that Nehru had essentially said "bye-bye" to these states. Shah credited the BJP-led government for securing the borders with Bangladesh and curbing infiltration.

Shah commended the efforts of the Modi government in bringing about peace accords and facilitating the surrender of thousands of youths. He mentioned the withdrawal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from 80% of the state's areas and contrasted the fulfillment of clauses in the Bodo Accord with the unmet promises of the Assam Accord by previous administrations.

Regarding the Congress manifesto, Shah alleged a preference for Muslim personal law and contrasted it with initiatives such as the prevention of child marriages under Sarma's leadership in Assam and the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand.
