Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday affirmed his commitment to enhancing the India-US strategic alliance during his third term while meeting with visiting US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), NSA Sullivan updated PM Modi on the advancements in various areas of bilateral cooperation. This included progress under the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), such as semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, telecom, defense, critical minerals, and space, among other sectors.

"PM expressed satisfaction at the speed and scale of the growing bilateral partnership in all areas and the convergence of views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,"  the PMO noted.

Sullivan's visit to India follows last Friday's discussion between PM Modi and US President Joe Biden, which took place after the G7 Summit's Outreach Session in Borgo Egnazia, Italy.

The Prime Minister highlighted his "recent positive interaction" with President Biden and reiterated his dedication to advancing the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the global good, aiming to elevate it further in his new term.

Earlier in the day, Sullivan met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar before participating in the annual iCET review meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

"Delighted to welcome US NSA Jake Sullivan in New Delhi today morning. A comprehensive discussion on a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. Confident that India-US strategic partnership will continue to advance strongly in our new term," EAM Jaishankar posted on X after his meeting with Sullivan.

The US NSA's arrival in India followed his attendance and speech at the Peace Summit on Ukraine in Switzerland over the weekend. Although India was present at the event, it did not endorse any statements or documents that emerged from the summit.

Sullivan's visit to Delhi around the same time last year involved meetings with PM Modi, EAM Jaishankar, and NSA Doval. During that visit, both countries revealed a roadmap for collaboration at a stakeholder event organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), aimed at advancing the India-US iCET partnership, just prior to Prime Minister Modi's notable visit to Washington.

Both NSAs have recognized that the iCET, introduced by PM Modi and US President Biden in May 2022, will play a crucial role in fortifying the strategic partnership between the two nations.
