The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police has apprehended an individual employed at the Indian Embassy in Moscow for his alleged involvement in anti-national activities, collaborating with Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, and divulging crucial confidential information related to the strategic activities of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of External Affairs, and Indian military establishments, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
Identified as Satendra Siwal, the son of Jaiveer Singh and a resident of Shahmahiuddinpur village in Hapur district, Siwal is currently employed in the Ministry of External Affairs and stationed at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Russia.
The ATS initiated the arrest based on intelligence gathered from confidential sources indicating that ISI handlers were enticing Ministry of External Affairs employees with financial incentives to procure strategically vital information related to the Indian Army. Such activities were deemed to pose a substantial threat to India's internal and external security.
The investigation by the ATS, conducted through a combination of electronic and physical surveillance, revealed Siwal's alleged involvement in anti-India activities. It is asserted that Siwal, connected to the network of ISI handlers, was providing significant confidential information regarding the strategic activities of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of External Affairs, and Indian military establishments in exchange for monetary compensation.
The arrest underscores the serious nature of the allegations and the potential risks posed by individuals engaged in compromising national security through unauthorized disclosures of sensitive information.
