In the minds of devotees, fears are still there regarding the quality ghee being used in the world-famous Tirupati 'laddu prasadam', the TT D said the sanctity of sacred sweetmeat has been restored.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple on the hills of Tirumala, posted in social media that divinity and purity of Srivari Laddu were unblemished now on Friday night.
With an incident like this, the divinity and purity of Srivari Laddu have no taint on it. TTD will protect and ensure the holiness of Laddu Prasadam for which all the devotees leave themselves satisfied, said the temple board in a post.
The temple body governing the super-rich shrine yesterday revealed it has found samples that tested to contain sub-standard ghee and traces of lard, echoing claims made two days ago by Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
With the fingers of accusations pointed towards the erstwhile YSRCP regime in this matter, former CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy termed the whole episode as "diversion politics" and called it a "cooked up story".
The Centre has asked the Andhra Pradesh government for a report on the issue and promised suitable action following an examination of the matter.
Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi asked for an inquiry into the allegations.
Quoting a lab report on Friday, the TTD said there was presence of 'lard' (pig fat) and other impurities in the ghee.
TTD Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao said lab tests have revealed the presence of animal fat and lard in chosen samples, and the board was in the process of blacklisting the contractor who supplied 'adulterated' ghee.
