Trump Temple in Telangana Village Gains Renewed Attention

Just as Donald Trump was nearing a potential second term as President of the United States, people once again turned to a singular temple erected in his name by a man in Telangana's Konne village, built back in 2019; villagers were celebrating Trump's expected victory by draping his statue with garlands.

Krishna was 33 years old when he died of cardiac arrest in October 2020.

Again, in 2018, the prayer room has become a temple for Trump. Devotees' zeal has few parallels. Krishna had installed Trump's photograph—then President of the United States—in the prayer room and prayed to that photo every day.

He put up a six-foot tall statue of Trump outside his house and performed religious rituals regularly and even bathed it with milk. He told the media that he spent Rs 2 lakh installing the statue.

Affectionately known as Trump Krishna in his village, Krishna decorated posters, stickers, and graffiti plastered on the walls about Trump.

During Trump's confirmation of positivity to Covid-19, Krishna put up a tearful video of one minute-long, where he was requesting God to heal Trump and witness him re-elected by 2020.

Krishna, who manages his two-acre farm, grows vegetables and fruits. He claimed that he began worshiping Trump after a dream in which he visualized him prophesying India's victory over Pakistan in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The win only added strength to his faith.

Krishna also attributes the decision to construct a Trump temple to the killing of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, a techie from Telangana, in a hate crime by a US Navy veteran in 2017.

Believing that through his admiration, Krishna could portray the magnificence of Indians, he tries to inculcate goodwill between the US president and the Indian masses by showing up his regard for Trump.
