India and Australia conducted a thorough discussion on various aspects of bilateral defence cooperation, emphasizing enhanced collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.
Following a constructive telephonic conversation between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles, Singh underscored the significance of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Australian National Defence Strategy document of 2024 recognizes India as a key security partner.
Both ministers acknowledged the substantial advancements in defence cooperation under this strategic partnership, highlighting the positive momentum since their participation in the India-Australia 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in November 2023.
Richard Marles commended Rajnath Singh on assuming the role of Defence Minister for a consecutive term and praised India's democratic process for its high voter turnout. He also extended congratulations to Rajnath Singh on Team India's triumph in the T20 World Cup.
