Sachin Waze was planning to extort money from Mukesh Ambani: NIA

The chargesheet further claims that the whole conspiracy was being hatched for monetary gains as Waze was planning to extort money from RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani by “terrorizing wealthy individuals” and putting the fear of dire consequences.

Dismissed Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze tried to devise a conspiracy to “regain his clout as an ace detective” after putting an SUV laden with explosives below Antilia on 25th February, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has said in its chargesheet.

The chargesheet further claims that the whole conspiracy was being hatched for monetary gains as Waze was planning to extort money from RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani by “terrorizing wealthy individuals” and putting the fear of dire consequences.

Waze deliberately left a note in the car and posted a message on the Telegram app framing terror outfit Jaish-ul-Hind as being responsible for planting the explosives to mislead the investigators. Waze also plotted the murder of the vehicle owner, Mansukh Hiran, the NIA said.

“The post on Telegram… appears to be a deliberate attempt to add credibility to the above-said act of terror and the murder of Hiran was a direct outcome of the said act of terror,” the charge sheet says.

According to NIA, Waze posted a threat demand for the Ambani family that was intended for a payoff, thus, clearly showing the monetary intentions of the ex-cop. Waze drove the explosive-laden vehicle himself and parked it beside Ambani’s house. The driver of the police vehicle that accompanied him was unaware of the conspiracy and was told it was a secret operation.

After setting up the scene, Waze was the first one to reach the spot and start the investigation that he had set himself up, as part to gain popularity points and instill fear in Ambani’s family. The next day when the driver saw the news, he was shocked, but Waze ordered him to keep quiet, the charge sheet said.
