Dattatreya Hosabale, re-elected as Sarkaryavah (General Secretary) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with unanimous support, emphasized on Sunday that social cohesion isn't merely a strategic aspect for the Sangh but a testament to allegiance and belief.
He stressed that societal transformation would materialize through the collective endeavors of the virtuous segments of society.
"The Sangh is committed to advancing social progress by fostering unity across society," he affirmed.
Hosabale's re-election for a three-year term until 2027 occurred during the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in Nagpur.
He highlighted the significant societal involvement witnessed during the historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Mandir.
Regarding the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Hosabale hailed them as a celebration of democracy in the nation.
"We must fortify democracy and national unity while sustaining the momentum of development. RSS volunteers will spearhead public awareness campaigns for 100% voter turnout, advocating against discord, division, or anything undermining unity," he asserted.
"By Vijayadashami 2025, RSS aims to establish daily shakhas and weekly meetings in all cities, divisions, and blocks. Organizing the entire society is our vision. Environmental conservation and social harmony aren't exclusive to any single organization but concern the entire community," Hosabale conveyed during the media briefing.
He addressed the persistence of untouchability, acknowledging its diminishing prevalence in urban areas.
"There should be no discrimination regarding communal spaces like village ponds, temples, or crematoriums," he insisted.
Concerning the Sandeshkhali violence, Hosabale mentioned the victimized women's delegation urging the President to ensure stringent punishment for the perpetrators.
"All RSS members and affiliated organizations actively support the victimized women at every level," he affirmed.
On the minority issue, Hosabale opposed politics based on minority identity, stressing efforts by RSS leaders to engage with Muslim and Christian communities for harmonious coordination.
Reflecting on the recent social conflicts in Manipur, Hosabale expressed sorrow and stated efforts made to mediate with leaders of the Kuki and Meitei communities, resulting in a resolution.
Additionally, Hosabale unveiled the new RSS executive council for 2024-27, comprising Krishna Gopal, Mukund, Arun Kumar, Ramdutt Chakradhar, Atul Limaye, and Alok Kumar.
