Rashmi Ranjan Swain IPS (AGMUT: 1991) gets empanelled as DGP, Jammu and Kashmir: The Ministry of Home Affairs has empanelled him in the rank and posted with immediate effect till May 6, 2022. He has been serving as the acting DGP since.
A declaration released by the MHA on Wednesday quotes, "With the approval of the competent authority, R. R. Swain IPS (AGMUT: 1991) as Director General of Police. The appointment shall take effect from the date of his assuming the charge and shall remain valid till 30th September 2024 or until further orders.
Swain is a known spearheading personality among the erstwhile J&K IPS cadre and one of the most active persons in the fight against terrorism and its associated threats in Jammu and Kashmir.
He is a man known for his sheer integrity and commitment to nationalism, with no tolerance toward corruption and misconduct. As Special Director of the Intelligence Department, Swain has been at the forefront in identifying and countering threats related to terrorism, separatism, drug trafficking, and terror financing.
To the anti-state forces, Swain was a relentless adversary, an embodiment of the state's unyielding determination to fight anti-national activities.
Swain is also known for his efforts in the area of supporting upright and nationalist officers in asserting that the rights of law-abiding citizens are secured. In fact, his 'Public Darbars' have, therefore, been acclaimed and spoken of from near and afar and helped him to tackle and dispose of public grievances one-on-one.
