PM Modi in Prayagraj, transfers 1000 crore in the account of SHGs which will benefit 16 lakh women

Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are around the corner with only 2-3 months left. The current government of UP is making an effort to leave no stone unturned and continuously conducting rallies, launching schemes, with frequent visits of the Prime Minister in the state. With an aim to empower women, On Tuesday PM Modi visited Prayagraj, the state of Uttar Pradesh and has launched several initiatives which will benefit the women. Additionally he also laid the foundation stone of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units.

With an aim to empower women, On Tuesday PM Modi visited Prayagraj, the state of Uttar Pradesh and has launched several initiatives which will benefit the women. Additionally he also laid the foundation stone of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units.

1. Prime Minister Modi in Prayagraj, with a vision to empower women has transfered ₹ 1,000 crore in the bank account of Self Help Groups (SHGs), under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission, which will benefit around 16 lakh women members of these groups. The programme held at the Pared Maidan, gathered over 2 lakh women.  

2. "I salute the holy land of Prayagraj, which is situated on the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, by bowing my head. For hundreds of years, Prayagraj has been a symbol of nari shakti," the PM said in his address.

3. The PM also transferred the first-month stipend of Rs 4,000 in accounts of 20,000 Business Correspondent-Sakhis. These Sakhis commence their work as providers of doorstep financial services at the grassroots level and the government has planned a stipend for them for 6 months, so that Sakhis get stabilised in their work and then start earning through the commission on transactions.

4. In the programme, the PM also transferred an amount over Rs 20 crore to around 1 lakh beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme. The scheme provides conditional cash transfer to a girl child at different stages of her life. The total transfer constitutes ₹15,000 per beneficiary.

5. PM Modi additionally laid the foundation of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units. These units are being funded by the SHGs and will be built at a cost of Rs 1 crore per unit. These units will supply supplementary nutrition under the Integrated Child Development Scheme in 600 blocks in the state.
