Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that the Union Government has decided to repeal all the three farm laws in the upcoming winter session of Parliament. He made the announcement while addressing the nation at morning 9 am on the occasion of Gurupurab. PM Modi further appealed to all the protesting farmers to call off their agitation and return to their homes. After the prime minister’s announcement, prominent political leaders, as well as farmer union leaders, have shared their views on the government's decision. While most leaders termed it as a win for the farmers, few called it the opposition's win too.

1. Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi did not miss out on sharing his views, he took to the microblogging site to congratulate the farmers for their win and called the farmers as country's 'annadatas' who made arrogance bow their heads

2. Captain Amrinder Singh
Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh also reacted to the government's decision and said it is 'great news'. Amrinder Singh, who quit the Congress party recently and formed his own political outfit, thanked PM Modi for repealing the laws.

3. Navjot Singh Sidhu
Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu also took to Twitter and referred to the farm laws as 'black laws' and credits the satyagraha of the farmers for this historic success.

4. Rakesh Tikait
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Leader Rakesh Tikait made a strong statement on Friday which said that the protesters will not leave the borders and neither will they withdraw the protest, they will wait till the day the laws are canceled in the Parliament.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the decision to repeal the farm laws and said the government respected the sentiments of the farmers.
