Normal to above normal rainfall in July for north, central, south India: IMD

The IMD also said "normal to below normal" rainfall is most likely over most parts of east and northeast India and areas adjacent to east central India and some parts of west south peninsular India. Monthly rainfall for July 2022 over the country as a whole is most likely to be normal, i.e., ranging between 94 and 106 per cent of the Long Period Average (LPA).
Amarnath Yatra resumes with a 'smart' makeover

The Jammu and Kashmir administration is expecting more than six lakh pilgrims this year, after three years of postponement of this annual event. Since the beginning of the year, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been building the machinery for a smooth and safe yatra. The pilgrimage will continue for 43 days till August 11, the day of Raksha Bandhan as per the tradition.

India reports 17,070 new Covid cases, 23 deaths

In the same period, the country reported 23 more Covid deaths, taking the nationwide toll to 5,25,139. The active caseload has also surged to 1,07,189 cases, accounting for 0.25 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 14,413 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,28,36,906. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.55 per cent.
Udaipur murder accused duo sent to 14 days judicial custody

Both the accused were produced before the special court amid tight security. The court after hearing the contention sent them to judicial custody. The sources in the agency said that they received crucial input that both can be attacked by different organisations and hence they decided to produce them before Udaipur court.

Active Covid caseload in India crosses 1L-mark after 4 months

The active caseload has also surged to 1,04,555 cases, accounting for 0.24 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The last time the active Covid caseload crossed the one lakh-mark was on February 28 when it reached 1,02,601. The recovery of 13,827 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,28,22,493. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.55 per cent.
