American woman in India fakes physical assault, abuse to blackmail parents: Police
The victim-turned-accused was identified as Chloe Renee McLaughlin, who arrived in Delhi on May 3. The daughter of a former Army officer, she is a graduate and resides in Washington DC. Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, Amrutha Guguloth said the US Embassy had approached them, stating that the woman was assaulted and beaten by an unidentified individual known to her and is missing after reporting the incident to her family in the US.

IndiGo flight diverted to Pakistan due to technical snag
"IndiGo flight 6E-1406, operating from Sharjah to Hyderabad was diverted to Karachi. The pilot observed a technical defect. Necessary procedures were followed and as a precaution, the aircraft was diverted to Karachi," IndiGo said in a press statement. The aircraft is being examined at the airport. Meanwhile, the airline is sending an alternate aircraft to Karachi to fly the passengers to Hyderabad, it added.

India achieves historic milestone of 200 cr Covid vaccination mark
According to the Co-Win Portal, with a total 1.91 lakhs of vaccine being administered so far on Sunday, the number crossed the milestone mark of 200 crore. A total of 199.97 crore Covid vaccine doses were administered across the country until Saturday night, which includes 5.48 crore doses of the precaution dose. On January 16, 2021, two Made-in-India vaccines -- Covaxin and Covishield -- were made available for the Indian citizens.
India reports 20,528 new Covid cases, 49 deaths
The active caseload has also risen to 1,43,449 cases, accounting for 0.33 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 17,790 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,30,81,441. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.47 per cent. Meanwhile, India's daily positivity rate has increased to 5.23 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 4.55 per cent.

The four-lane expressway, which can be later expanded into six lanes, passes through seven districts -- Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Etawah. The expressway has been built at a cost of around Rs 14,850 crore. The prime minister had laid the foundation stone of the expressway on February 29, 2020, and it has been completed in about 28 months.

In the same period, 56 fatalities took the nationwide death toll to 5,25,660. Meanwhile, the active caseload has also risen to 1,40,760 cases, accounting for 0.32 per cent of the total positive cases. The recovery of 18,301 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,30,63,651. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.48 per cent.
Rubaiya Sayeed identifies Yasin Malik as her abductor
Rubaiya Sayeed, listed as the witness for the prosecution, appeared before the CBI court here and identified Yasin Malik and three other accused as her abductors. Rubaiya Sayeed was abducted in 1989 and her release was managed by swapping four jailed militant commanders when her father was then the Home Minister in the V.P. Singh government.
