India records 19,078 new Covid-19 cases, 224 deaths

Till now, 99,06,387 have recovered. Currently, there are 2,50,183 active cases. The recovery rate stands at 96.08 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.45 per cent. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state till date. Over 70 per cent of the daily new cases are being reported by 10 states and union territories -- Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan (in random order).
Fire at Harley Davidson agency office in Delhi

The fire broke out at around 1.36 a.m. It took over four hours to bring the inferno under control. On the third floor of the building, there is a night club and the terrace is being used for a restaurant. The night club 'Markaz' does not have an NOC from the Fire Department.
22 members of Telangana family test positive for Covid-19

Health officials said on Saturday that the family members were found infected after they attended the last rites of a relative a few days ago. Those tested positive are residents of a gated community in the town. According to District Medical and Health Officer K. Harshvardhan, none of them has any symptoms.

RBI introduces Digital Payments Index

The RBI-DPI comprises of five broad parameters that enable measurement of deepening and penetration of digital payments in the country over different time periods. These parameters are 'payment enablers', 'payment infrastructure -- demand side factors', 'payment infrastructure -- suppy side factors', 'payment performance' and 'consumer centricity', said an RBI statement.
Soldier killed in Pakistani firing on LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri

Defence ministry spokesman, Colonel Devender Anand said at about 3.30 p.m. on Friday Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. Defence sources said Naib Subedar Ravinder Kumar was injured and later succumbed to the critical injuries sustained in the Pakistani firing.

Facility for booking LPG refill by giving a missed call on 8454955555 has been rolled out pan-India and for registering a new LPG connection has been rolled out in Bhubaneswar, informed the Minister. He said service for registration of LPG connections through missed-call will be available across India shortly.
India-UK flight services to resume from Jan 8: Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

Last month, these services were suspended to stop the spread of a mutant Covid-19 starin which was recently discovered in the UK. In a tweet, the minister said: "It has been decided that flights between India & UK will resume from 8 Jan 2021."
