Bird Flu Outbreak: Jammu and Kashmir government bans entry of poultry

Authorities have already said that so far there was no reported incident of bird death due to bird flu in the union territory. Meanwhile, there are reports of scores of crows dying in Rajouri district. The authorities said they have collected samples to ascertain whether these deaths are related to bird flu or not.

Covid-19 Update: India records 18,139 fresh cases, 234 deaths

India continued its streak of low daily new cases. Till now, 1,00,37,398 have recovered. Currently, there are 2,25,449 active cases. The recovery rate stands at 96.36 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.45 as per cent. The total number of samples tested up to January 7 is 17,93,36,364 including 9,35,369 samples tested on Thursday, the Indian Council of Medical Research said.
Covid vaccination likely to begin in India by Jan 12

"In all likelihood, the Covid immunisation drive is expected to start early next week. Considering the preparations, the roll-out may start on January 11 or latest by January 12," a senior government official inducted in the vaccine distribution programme said.
