No intrusions, major faceoffs in Eastern Command area since Ladakh standoff: Indian Army

Chauhan said that the mutual trust on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China has taken a major hit. It will take time for things to get stable.

Eastern Army Commander Lt General Anil Chauhan on Wednesday said that there have been no major intrusions, faceoffs between Indian troops and Chinese People Liberation Army (PLA) in eastern Ladakh since the military standoff erupted earlier this year. 

Chauhan said that the mutual trust on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China took a major hit after the Galwan Valley faceoff. It will take time for things to get stable, he added.

He further said that the escalation of troops from both sides due to precautionary deployment during the Ladakh standoff has begun to cool down as troops have started deducing gradually, citing the winter season as the reason.

"However, the Indian Army is prepared to beat any challenge during the winter," he told reporters at the Fort William here on the occasion of Vijay Diwas.

The Galwan valley clash between the two sides led to the death of 22 Indian soldiers and an unspecified number of PLA soldiers.
