The Meerut woman's alleged murder of her husband with the assistance of her lover is a case that has sent shockwaves across the nation, and it reflects a deeper malaise of moral decay in society, says religious preacher Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. He stressed that parents must teach their children values by adhering to the principles of Shri Ramcharitmanas.
Popularly known as Bageshwar Baba, Shastri expressed his views about the horrific crime while speaking to the media. In a humorous tone, he said, "Currently, the blue drum is a sensation in India, and most husbands are shocked." His statement was about the plastic drum where the murdered victim, Saurabh Rajput, was fitted with cement. Laughing, he went on to say, "Thank God, I am not married."
Deplored the incident, Shastri attributed the breakdown of moral values to the erosion of conventional family life, Westernization, and adultery. "The Meerut incident is sad. When a son or daughter does this, it is because of bad upbringing. All Indians must refer to Shri Ramcharitmanas to imbibe virtuous family life," he said.
The murder case is of Saurabh Rajput's wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla, who have been arrested. Authorities claim that the couple not only murdered Saurabh but also cut his body into 15 pieces and encased them in a drum of wet cement.
Police found that Muskaan and Sahil were drug abusers and did not want Saurabh to stop their addiction. Saurabh, who was working in London, had come home to celebrate his daughter's sixth birthday when he was brutally killed.
The case came to light when Muskaan told her parents, who took her to the police. She and Sahil are currently in custody in a Meerut jail.
