LCA Tejas set to debut at Singapore Air Show

India’s indigenously produced light combat aircraft (LCA) fighter jet Tejas will display its flying prowess for the first time at the Singapore Airshow 2022. The airshow, organized by Experia Events, will be held between 15th and 18th February.For the itinerary, the airshow will have eight flying displays as well as flypasts. The birds on display will be from the Air Forces of four countries and a couple of commercial companies.

India’s indigenously produced light combat aircraft (LCA) fighter jet Tejas will display its flying prowess for the first time at the Singapore Airshow 2022. The airshow, organized by Experia Events, will be held between 15th and 18th February.

“The single jet performance will bring impressive stunts and manoeuvres to Singapore's skies,” PTI quoted the airshow organisers as saying. Tejas also enthralled the audience at the Dubai Air Show in November last year as well.

For the itinerary, the airshow will have eight flying displays as well as flypasts. The birds on display will be from the Air Forces of four countries and a couple of commercial companies. It is touted as Asia’s largest and most influential international airshow.

“The Jupiters”, Indonesia’s aerobatic team, will also participate with their trademark six-plane formations after skipping the previous edition in 2020. “The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will return with two performances this year, featuring a pair of AH-64D Apache attack helicopters and solo aerobatics by an F-16C fighter jet. The United States Marine Corps’ F-35B Lightning II – the stealth fighter model that RSAF has agreed to buy – will make another appearance. The US Air Force’s B-52 Stratofortress will participate in a fly-by,” as per a report by CNA.

Airbus’s A350-1000 and Boeing B777-9 are expected to take to the skies in a demo flyover. "These stellar performances by our partners and exhibitors are testament to the recovery of the aerospace and aviation industry and we hope they will uplift spirits," Experia managing director Leck Chet Lam said.

The flying displays can be viewed on the Singapore Airshow’s Facebook Page. It is a biennial event which has been shortened this year due to COVID19 restrictions. More than 20,000 people visited the event in 2020 and more that 70,000 visited the airshow in 2018.  The airshow made its debut in 2008. It is said to be the world’s third largest air show after the Paris Air Show (Le Bourget) and Farnborough Air Show in the U.K.
