The deadlock regarding the protesters' demands following the tragic murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the President of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, in Jaipur persisted as of Wednesday.
Initially, there were claims that an agreement had been reached on the demands, and an announcement to end the strike was imminent. However, Gogamedi's wife declared that the protest would persist until their demands were met.
On Tuesday, two assailants entered Gogamedi's residence in the Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur, firing upon him. He was rushed to Metro Mass Hospital in Mansarovar, where he was pronounced dead.
Since Tuesday, his supporters have been staging a strike, demanding the apprehension of the culprits. On Wednesday evening, Gogamedi's wife, Shila Shekhawat, addressed the protesters, asserting, "I have a demand that the protest will continue until the accused are brought before us."
Expressing deep emotion, she added, "Sukhdev Singh has done every work with full commitment and now this demand of mine also has to be fulfilled with the same level of determination."
Subsequently, the protesters staged a dharna outside the hospital, pressing for the arrest of the assailants.
Given the gravity of the situation, Governor Kalraj Mishra summoned the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP, and Jaipur Police Commissioner to Raj Bhavan for a special review of the state's law and order.
The agreed-upon demands include recommending an NIA investigation to expose the role of responsible officers in neglecting police security for Gogamedi despite continuous threats. A judicial inquiry by a retired High Court judge, and subsequent action against guilty officers based on the investigation report, is also part of the agreement.
A fast-track court will conduct the case trial post-investigation, and a departmental inquiry will scrutinize negligence before and after the incident. Personnel involved will be transferred to the police line, Jaipur, during this inquiry.
A recommendation for financial assistance and a government job for Gogamedi's family will be made to the state government. Similar assistance will be recommended for the injured Ajit Singh's family. Security will be provided to Gogamedi's family members in Jaipur and Hanumangarh district, along with the approval of weapons licenses within 10 days.
Furthermore, witnesses of the case will receive security from Jaipur Commissionerate or the respective district. A comprehensive assessment of the threat situation for individuals targeted by the gang that murdered Gogamedi within 7 days will be conducted, and security will be provided accordingly.
