External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar conveyed his heartfelt greetings to his Bangladeshi counterpart, A.K. Abdul Momen, on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of Bangladesh's 'Victory Day'. This day commemorates the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and the subsequent establishment of Bangladesh as an independent nation.
At a ceremony held at the Dhaka airport on Saturday, Jaishankar emphasized the enduring significance of the spirit of 1971, which serves as the foundation of the strong relationship between Bangladesh and India. He expressed the need to preserve and promote this spirit, stating, "It is time for us to treasure our friendship."
Taking to his X account, the External Affairs Minister underscored the exemplary nature of the India-Bangladesh friendship, noting that it has not only served the interests of both nations but has also set an example beyond their bilateral relationship.
On Sunday, Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, Pranay Verma, conveyed India's readiness to walk alongside Bangladesh in achieving its vision of a stable, progressive, and prosperous nation.
In a X post, Jaishankar extended warm greetings to Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen, the Government of Bangladesh, and its people on the 52nd Bijoy Dibosh, marking the Victory Day celebrations.
