Indian Student's Family in US Stabbing Seeks Assistance, Telangana Government Pledges Support

The family of Pucha Varun Raj, a student from Telangana who was tragically stabbed at a gym in the state of Indiana, USA, has appealed for assistance. The state government of Telangana has responded with an assurance of support.

Pucha Varun Raj, a 24-year-old student pursuing his MS at Valparaiso University, was attacked by an assailant in the gym. The incident left him with a severe brainstem injury, and he was rushed to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne in a critical condition.

Varun Raj, hailing from Khammam town in Telangana, was attacked while returning home from the gym, where he was balancing his studies with a part-time job.

His father, Ramamurthy, who is a teacher in Mahabubabad district, sought help for the best medical treatment for his son and met with Transport Minister P. Ajay Kumar to request assistance.

In response to the family's plea for help, State Minister for NRI Affairs K.T. Rama Rao has assured that the government will do everything possible to support Varun. This support will be coordinated with the Indian embassy and Telangana's NRI community.

The attack on the Indian student occurred when a 24-year-old individual, Jordan Andrade, mistakenly believed that Varun was a threat to him and attacked him at a public gym. Andrade was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.

Pucha Varun Raj's injuries are grave, and he is facing significant medical challenges. The Indian community and authorities are rallying to provide him with the necessary assistance and support during this difficult time.
