In a unique initiative led by the Uttar Pradesh tourism department, the Indian national flag is set to be unfurled on Africa's highest mountain peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania. Virendra Sisodia, a retired army man and accomplished mountaineer from Lucknow, will be hoisting the national flag on Friday, marking a symbolic celebration of India's spirit and unity.
Jaiveer Singh, the Uttar Pradesh tourism and culture minister, shared that the campaign to hoist the Indian Tricolour on Mount Kilimanjaro was launched on the day of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. He highlighted that on January 26, while the President hoists the Indian Tricolour on Kartavya Path in Delhi, a distance of about five and a half thousand kilometers away, the Indian national flag and the flag of Prabhu Shri Ram Temple will be raised on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Singh emphasized that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to position Uttar Pradesh as the most attractive tourist destination globally. With the recent pran pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya attracting a significant influx of pilgrims and tourists, the tourism minister expressed optimism about boosting the local economy and placing Ayodhya on the global tourism map.
This symbolic gesture not only reinforces India's cultural and spiritual ties but also contributes to the state's vision of becoming a prominent global tourism destination.
