Indian Army made a press statement on Wednesday that it has attacked nine sites deep inside Pakistan as a retaliation for the latest Pahalgam terrorist strike.
In its official statement, Indian Armed Forces stated, "Earlier today, the Indian Armed Forces conducted 'Operation Sindoor,' against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where attacks have been planned and launched against India."
The Indian army also put out a message on its official X account, stating, "Justice is Served. Jai Hind."
It went on to add that the statement reinforced the nine targets in view, reaffirming the fact that what was responded to were planned, controlled, and not caused to further generate tension. "No Pakistani military installations were hit. India has exercised extreme restraint while choosing the target locations and carrying out the operation," made clear the army.
These steps followed in the wake of the decisive reaction to indiscriminate attack of terror in Pahalgam in which 25 Indians and a Nepali national were killed. The army reaffirmed its assurance that the perpetrators of the attack would be brought to court and, in a statement, said, "We are keeping our promise that the culprits of this attack would be brought to justice. A detailed briefing on 'Operation Sindoor' will follow later today."
Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed the missile strikes on Pakistan. He confirmed that India had attacked the cities of Kotli, Bahwalpur, and Muzaffarabad and characterized the attacks as a "cowardly act" as tensions between the two countries escalated further following the militant attack on occupied Kashmir.
The increased tension between Pakistan and India is in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilians, who were largely tourists.
