India reported 656 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. The total number of active COVID-19 cases in India stands at 3,742.
Among the states, Kerala recorded the highest number of new cases with 128, followed by Karnataka with 96 infections. The country has witnessed a recent increase in COVID-19 cases, prompting concerns from both the central and state governments.
The emergence of the new JN.1 COVID variant has raised alarms at the national level. This variant has been identified not only in India but also in other countries such as Singapore and England. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and implementing measures to control the spread of the virus.
