India breaks 1 crore Covid vaccine dose mark for 3rd time in 11 days

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh led the way with the highest inoculations, as they administered 29.26 lakh, 15.74 lakh, and 6.78 lakh, respectively, the Economic Times reported. According to the data from Health Ministry, the total coverage on Monday stood at 1,08,36,984 vaccine doses till 9 pm.

India on Monday administered more than one crore covid doses, crossing the mark for the third time in 11 days. This brought the total Covid doses administered in the country to 70 crores.

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh led the way with the highest inoculations, as they administered 29.26 lakh, 15.74 lakh, and 6.78 lakh, respectively, the Economic Times reported.

According to the data from Health Ministry, the total coverage on Monday stood at 1,08,36,984 vaccine doses till 9 pm.

The country had crossed the one-crore mark for the first time ever on August 27 with 1,08,99,699 doses. The ministry expects the inoculation number to cross the August 27 mark of doses by end of the day.

Then, on August 31, India administered 1,41,20,467 doses, the highest for a single day.

Meanwhile, Kerala struggled with just 23,288 vaccine doses on Monday. Last week, State’s Health minister Veena George had a complaint about a vaccine shortage in Kerala. Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts are still facing Covishield shortage, state health authorities have conveyed to the health ministry.

On Monday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had interacted with health officials in Himachal Pradesh and congratulated them for their efforts in the vaccination drive.

Himachal Pradesh became the first state in the country that has inoculated 100% of its eligible citizens with at least one dose of the Covid vaccine. Moreover, it has already administered one-third of its population with the second dose.

"Not only this, but Himachal has crossed almost one-third of the population in the case of the second dose also,” Modi said, praising the Jai Ram Thakur-led government of the election-bound state for planning its drive and cold storage meticulously to ensure full coverage with minimal vaccine wastage.
